Comparison: While both versions are well made in their own right, some will have a favorite. Special effects have come a long way since the 70s and while I personally love practical effects more than cgi, the remakes cgi was impressive. The stoylines between the two are similar in many ways and yet so very different, the remake gives more of a background of Michael growing up in a mental hospital. The cast of both films were impressive and cannot be compared. This is one of those you just have to choose for yourself, it's all a matter of taste. I would recommend both versions.
