Mine Games  (2012)

Actors:
Briana Evigan, Julianna Guill & Ethan Peck

Director:
 Richard Gray

1 hour 33 minutes

Plot:
A group of young friends make an incomprehensible discovery in an abandoned mine, but the more they try to change the future, the more they seal their fate.

Trailer:

Review:

A typical group of friends travel to a cabin in the middle of no where, investigate something they shouldn't and und up paying for it with their lives movie. Nothing different about it to make it stand out from the other hundreds of movies that have the same basic plot. The acting, special effects and camra work are nothing special either. This is an average horror flick, IMO.

Bill Condon

Run time :
1 hour 34 minutes

Plot:

Trailer:

Review:
This is the second of the Candyman series. There is no need to hit on cinemaotgraphy or special effects for this is like the first, both top par. Most of the actorspplayed their part well.
A supernatural slasher story with a back story that the first film did not hit on. This is a solid horror that anyone should see and like.

Body Bags (1993)

Body Bags (1993)

Actors:
John Carpenter, Robert Carradine & Stacy Keach

Directors:
John Carpenter & Tobe Hooper

Runtime:
1 hour 33 minutes

Plot:
Three short stories in the horror genre. The first about a serial killer. The second about a hair transplant gone wrong. The third about a baseball player.

Trailer:

Review:
This was a made for TV horror movie by John Carpenter. In the spirit of "Tales from the Crypt." This film has John Carpenter, himself, playing a coronor telling three stories. With robert Carradine and Wes Craven having parts as well. While these stories are horror, there's some comedy elements as well. It's a nice movie but nothing to write home about.

Alejandro Hidalgo

100 minutes

Plot:

Trailer:

Review:

This is a foreign supernatural horror.  The story goes back and forth between the past and the present for the main character as she remembers the events that happened in her house. The film itself is well written and directed by Alejandro Hidalgo. This film will surpass your expectations because of the story and cinematography. if you don't mind subtitles or know the language I would highly recommend giving this film a go.

Top 10 Creatures/ Monsters in Horror

Top 10 Creatures/ Monsters in Horror

Honorable Mention : Hybrid Micheal – Underworld 1 & 2

Because I couldn't not include a hybrid vampire/lycan.. TOO HOTT!

10. Mr. Boogie – Sinister

He's just plain out creepy.

9. Clover – Cloverfield

A truly new over sized monster well made.

8. Crawlers – The Descent

Whether you like the movie or not practical effects were awesome.

7. Brundlefly (Hybrid Fly) – The Fly 1986

By far surpasses the original.

6. Jackal – 13 Ghosts

While the Jackal was one of many from this movie, IMO he was the best and none of the
monsters were bad.

5. Pumpkinhead – Pumpkinhead Series

Stan Winston's effects team, no need to say anything more.

4. Roaches – Mimic

Over-sized creepy roaches, eww.

3. Dogs – Resident Evil

Who ever designed these, is just a sick puppy.

2. Licker – Resident Evil

Okay, Resident Evil could have taken more than two slots but had to narrow it down.

1. Monster – Jeepers Creepers

Well thought out design, works well in light and dark lighting. Never seen anything like it before. Absolutely beautiful design work.

Castle Freak (1995)

Castle Freak (1995)

Actors:
Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton & Jonathan Fuller

Director:
Stuart Gordon

Run Time:
1 hour 34 minutes

Plot:
A troubled couple and their blind daughter come to Italy to visit a 12th century castle they have inherited. Soon they are plagued by unexplained noises, mysteriously broken object sand  the daughter's claims of an unknown nocturnal visitor to her bedroom. When the housekeeper and a local prostitute and are discovered savagely murdered in the castle's dungeon, John must unlock the castle's secret to save himself from jail and his family from the castle's secret inhabitant.

Trailer:

Review:
Jeffrey Combs, plays a normal husband and father with a troubled marriage in this film, quite the opposite from many of the roles he ususally plays or is known for and its rather refreshing to see another side of his acting chops.
There are some greatly gruesome practial special effects in the horror. If you get squemish this might not be the movie for you. There are not alot of squemish parts but just enough. This is for a select audience only or what I call "an under the covers" watcher.
While the plot and special effects are fine, this film lacks something to make it great.

Wyrmwood: The Road of the Dead (2015)

Wyrmwood: The Road of the Dead (2015)

Actors:
Jay Gallgher, Bianca Bradey & Leon Burchill

Director:
Kiah Roache-Turner

Run Time:
1 hour 38 minutes

Plot:
A man in the outback must rescue his sister from a mad scientist conducting experiments of a plague that is turning humans into zombies.

Trailer:

Review:
The cinematography in this film is amazing. Wyrmwood's action starts off before the title of the movie even hits the screen. This is NOT your typical zombie movie! It switches between the brother and the sister's side of the story.
I can see reminences of other movies in this storyline, for example; mad scientist messing with a zomnie viras (Resident Evil) & Apocolypse gear and car (Mad Max). As the poster says Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead. And it seriously works, making this an original zombie film. I highly recommend this film to everyone.

The Veil (2016)

The Veil (2016)

Actors:
Jessica Alba, Thomas Jane & Lily Rabe

Director:
Phil Joanou

Run time:
1 hour 33 minutes

Plot:
The lone survivor of a mass suicide revisits the scene 25 years later with a documentory film crew, Awakening dark memories and mysterious phennomena.

Trailer:

Review:
This straight to streaming release movie is somewhat based on Jim Jones and what could have happened then and 25 years later. On Netflix this only had two stars, I was pleasantly suprised with this psychological horror. Special effects are rather good & the plot is above average. This is a well made, well thought out film.

April Fool's Day (1986)

April Fool's Day (1986)

Actors:
Deborah Foreman, Griffin O'Neal, Clayton Rohner

Director:
  Fred Walton

Run time:
89 minutes

 Plot:
A group of nine college students staying at a friend's remote island mansion begin to fall victim to an unseen murderer over the April Fool's day weekend.

Trailer:

Review:
Let me start off by saying this film is one of my 80s B-movie favorites.  Some of the newer practical special effects that were coming out was used in this film, so not all of the special effects are that good.
The plot takes a turn at the end leaving you with a WTF moment(in a good way). If you are a fan of the 80's horror genre, then this is a must see.
