The Rite (2011)

The Rite (2011)

Actors:
Anthony Hopkins, Colin O'Donoghue & Alice Braga

Director:
Mikael Håfström

Run time:
1h 54 min

Plot:
Inspired by true events, "The Rite" follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While he's in Rome, Michael meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith, uncovering the devil's reach even to one of the holiest places on Earth.

Trailer:

Review:

One of the best exorcism movies out there to date. Anthony Hopkins does not dissappoint nor does Colin O'Donoghue (Captain Hook from Once a Upon a Time). Hopkins plays an Exorcist preist in Rome who gets possessed, who else could play this role so well? There are no real major effects in this. Cinematography was on point in every scene, acting couldn't have been better & storyline/ plot was rich. Never a disappointment in this soon to be classic.

Knights of Badassdom (2014)

Actors:
Ryan Kwanten, Peter Dinklage & Steve Zahn

Director:
Joe Lynch

Run Time:
1h 25 min

Plot:
KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM follows three best friends (Peter Dinklage, Steve Zahn and Ryan Kwanten) and dedicated LARPers (Live Action Role Players) as they take to the woods to reenact a dungeons and dragons-like scenario fresh out of the mythical Middle Ages. Trouble arises after they unwittingly conjure up some serious evil in the form of a blood-lusting Succubus, from the pits of hell.

 Trailer:

Review:
This is a comedy horror  in every sense of the words; more comedy than horror. But if you like role playing games, LARPing and such this is the movie for you! Extremely funny not much horror but a fun movie to watch. Most effects are partical and very well done (Blood and guts looked lifelike). It kinda starts off a little slow but hang in there and you'll be happy that you did.

B-movie cult flick, worth watching for horror fans. Worth every low budget penny. The story was well written, the actors and director came together to make this movie work. There are high quality practical effects. This is categorized as a supernatural bloodbath.

Frankenstein vs. the Mummy (2015)

Frankenstein vs. the Mummy (2015)

Actors:
Max Rhyser, Aston Leigh & Boomer Tibbs

Director:
Damien Leone

Run time:
115 minutes

Plot:
The mummy of a cursed pharaoh and a reanimated corpse terrorize a medical university. Only an Egyptologist and a college professor, the deranged Dr. Frankenstein, may be able to stop the creatures before it's too late.

Trailer:

Review:
Throughout the years, there has been quite a few monster vs. monster horror films; Freddie vs. Jason, Dracula vs, Werewolf and so on. Finally we get Frankenstein vs. the Mummy.
Throughout the film, the storytellers go back and forth with the telling of both creatures. Showing how they are interwined. Untill finally they meet and clash.
The effects are all partical throughout until the very end with one cgi (poorly done) effect. And were pretty good with the exception of Frankenstein's body and face beings two totally different colors and the cgi at the end. The title may make it sound a bit on the campy side but it is anything but. The storyline, plot, acting and most effects are right on point. I would recommend this to anyone to watch not just horror fans. If I had a star system this would get 4 out of 5 stars. ( which I'm starting to think itsn't a bad idea)

Storage 24 (2012)

Storage 24 (2012)

Actors:
Colin O'Donogue, Noel Clarke & Antonia Cambell- Hughes

Director:
Johannes Roberts

Run Time:
 1h 27 min

Plot:
An emergency power shutdown in London leaves 4 friends trapped in a cavernous storage facility with something alien looking for them in the dark.

Trailer:

Review:
Let's start off by saying there is some solid acting chops in this tale of friends trapped in a storage facility in London, who are being hunted by a insect like alien monster. The cinematography is well done as are the special effects. That being said this movie has a slow start and a even slower ending. There is a touch of drama going on in the story line that I feel gives you background between the characters, but slows the movie down.

With the curse unleashed, her only chance at survival is to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.

Trailer:

Review:
I've read alot of reviews about this one and I must say it's not as bad as all that. The plot is well thought out and original, a few top notch actors and mostly cgi effects. There are a few jump moments in the movie, this is a demon/ghost movie so no real bad bloody scenes. This  movie  really picks up in the second act. I would recommend this one.

Jack Frost (1997)

Jack Frost (1997)

Actors:
Scott MacDonald, Christopher Allport & Stephen Mendell

Director:
Michael Cooney

Run Time:
1h 29 minutes

Plot:
Serial killer is genetically mutated in car wreck on the way to his execution. After which, he becomes a murdering snowman hell-bent on revenge for the sheriff who caught him.

Trailer:

Review:
This is yet another B movie that has a few actors in it that you might recognize. The acting is better than most B horros, plot and story is fine and could be believable the only thing I really didn't like is the effects for the snowman himself. You can tell the snowman was made from some type of covered styrofoam. All in all the movie itself was okay.

1h 58 minutes

Plot:
New York police officer Ralph Sarchie investigates a series of crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest, schooled in the rites of exorcism, to combat the possessions that are terrorizing their city.

Trailer:

Review:
While this had a couple known actors in it, it didn't impress me much. It seemed to last forever. The concept  was good but not executed well.  And the ending very anti-climactic. I was disappointed with this one.
